Please note that the practice is now open on a Saturday morning, between 9am – 12 Noon at the Goldthorpe Centre.  This will include Bank Holiday weekends with the exception of Easter and Christmas 2014. These appointments are for urgent matters ONLY. This service is a pilot scheme being run by the NHS England Clinical Commissioning Group from 1 February 2014 to 31 March 2015. Following which time the pilot will be evaluated.

The Hollygreen Practice has surgeries at both the Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe Centres.

The practice can be contacted on 01709 886490 for either Goldthorpe or Thurnscoe.

The clinical team comprises 6 doctors, 4 practice nurses (including the Nurse Manager) and 3 Healthcare Assistants.

The other surgery staff includes a Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, Secretaries and Receptionists.

Our goal is to provide a first class service for patients.  

We now use text messaging to remind our patients of their appointments. However if you wish to opt out of receiving text messages please contact reception.


Barnsley GPs and Pharmacies are offering a service that gives more patient choice.

If you don’t normally pay NHS prescription charges, then any medicine supplied under the Pharmacy First Scheme will be FREE.

If you do pay for your prescriptions, then the cost of the medicine should be much less than the current prescription charge.

Your Pharmacist is a qualified health care professional who can help with your health problems.

The Pharmacist will offer you a private space to talk to you about your symptoms. Conditions they can advise on include:
